Programs & ServicesCore Programs:
The programs offered at the Boys & Girls Club of Jasper are the core of its members' activities. People know the Boys & Girls Clubs are a safe and secure place for club members to interact with their friends, classmates, and staff every day after school and during the summer. What many people don't know is what happens inside the clubs' programs to create seeds of academic success, athletic performance, artistic expression, civic involvement and character development. Each club's programs focus on (5) core areas which are: Character & Leadership Development, Education & Career Development, Health & Life Skills, The Arts and Sports/ Fitness & Recreation.
Character & Leadership: empowers club members to support and give to their community by fostering fundamental integrity, meaningful relationships and a positive self-image.
Education & Career: enables youth to invest their time and talent in education and technology as they focus on future employment opportunities.
Health & Life Skills: promotes positive behavior that helps club members nurture their own well-being, achieve personal goals and develop skills to achieve self sufficiency as adults.
The Arts: encourages creative expression and cultural awareness through knowledge and appreciation of arts, crafts, performing arts and creative writing.
Sports, Fitness & Recreation: develops fitness, social skills and teamwork while promoting the positive use of leisure time through healthy exercise.
The Boys & Girls Club of Jasper offers a summer session. Clubs hours are extended for the full day. The programming in the five core areas are continued as additional programming is added at each club. Thanks to the generosity and expertise of our region's neighbors, business partners, other charitable organizations, club members enjoy activities such as kayaking, horse-back riding, golfing, swimming, tennis lessons, football camp, robotics, gardening, cooking and so forth.
Youth of the Year:
Youth of Year is the premier recognition program for club members throughout the Boys & Girls Clubs of America movement. This program celebrates the Club's success stories. All members benefit from this program. Youth of the Year promotes and celebrates service to the Club, community, and families as it also honors the club member's academic performance, athletic achievements, civic involvement and demonstrated leadership. This year-long program selects a youth, ages 14 -18, as "Youth of the Month," and those members compete for the club's "Youth of the Year" title.
Each organization selects a "Youth of the Year," and he or she then competes at a state competition. State winners advance to the regional level and regional winners compete for the national title. Tens of thousands of dollars in scholarship prizes are awarded annually through the "Youth of the Year" program.
The Teen Center is a dedicated area within a club where teen club members have their own space to focus on their academic progress, college/life planning and participate in programs designed to foster successful future.
